My Liquid Green Juice Cleanse

Last week I felt like doing a juice cleanse as a bit of fun to change things up & as a challenge for myself.

I wanted to just quickly cover a few questions I was asked about this cleanse via my instagram/twitter/facebook pages;

- Q; Are you just having the juice or are you incorporating salads & other foods? -
  As I have a healthy and balanced food eating routine already, I wasn't JUST having juices the entire time as I have no need to 'detox'. The first 3 days I did just have juice (with a couple of snacks here and there to ensure I was getting the right nutrients my body needs), but after those 3 days I would have something small to eat for lunch & dinner; completely unprocessed, alkalizing, small meals... i.e rocket salad, my vegetable juice as a veggie soup ect.. I was still working out to the capacity I usually do so I did need some solids & this also stopped my body from being shocked when coming out of the cleanse with food going back in.

- Q; Where do you get your Chia Seeds? -
I get my Chia from Flannerys, you can purchase them at any health food stores or places that stocks the 'MACRO' brand also.

- Q; What brand of juicer do you use? -
I use a Sunbeam Cafe Series juicer, I have found this to be a really great juicer however have a cold juice press juicer on my birthday list after seeing my parents juicer they purchased a few months ago as I much prefer using this.

- Q; What juices did you create over the week? Did they taste good? -
I did my research to make sure that the juices I was going to make weren't just good for me but they tasted great too. So with that I created 7 different mixes of alkalizing, energizing juices for the 7 days.

- Day 1 Juice -

Celery + Cucumber + Green apples + Spinach + Parsley + Lemon + Alkalising Greens mix + Chia seeds + Acai berry powder

- Day 2 Juice -

Pineapple + Green apples + Lemons + Mint + Chia seeds + Alkalising Greens mix + Acai berry powder + ginger + Celery
(Day 2 Juice)

- Day 3 Juice -
Coconut Essence + Mint + Cinnamon + Ginger + Lemon + Chia seeds + Cucumber + Alkalising Greens mix

(Day 3 Coconut Water Juice)

- Day 4 -
Filtered water + Pineapple + Apple + Mint + Chia seeds + Carrot

Day 4 was when I started to incorporate small lunch & dinners. This was my veggie soup I made of;
Carrot steamed & blended + Ginger (Juiced) + Lentils (blended) + Water + Cayenne pepper in the blender & topped with mint
(Veggie Soup)

- Day 5 -
Apple + Carrot + Beetroot + Lemon + Ginger + Kiwi fruit + Chia seeds + Alkalising Greens
(Beetroot Juice - One of my FAVORITES!)

- Day 6 -
(Day 1 Juice) Celery + Cucumber + Green apples + Spinach + Parsley + Lemon + Alkalising Greens mix + Chia seeds + Acai berry powder

I also had a girlfriend over to celebrate her birthday on day 6 (Friday) so I made a "Spicy Lemonade" juice for myself & for my friend to use as a mixer for her cocktail. I didn't have any alcohol, I stuck to my cleanse but this was a GREAT juice & my friend LOVED it!

My Spicy Lemonade;
Lemons + Kiwi fruit + Cayenne pepper (Just a pinch, I had an extra spicy mix) + Agave Nectar + ginger
 (Spicy Lemonade - On the rare occasion when I do drink alcohol, I now only drink Ciroc. Its amazingly smooth & its not made from potatoes - its derived from grapes!)

- Day 7 -
 Cashew Milk
Filtered water + Raw cashews + Agave Nectar + Vanilla Bean + Cinnamon

I really liked this cleanse. It was a really great challenge for me & helped to exercise my discipline. It's obviously not for everyone (and you should consult a profesional before doing so) but I did notice I felt very high energy & everything was on point!

Looking forward to hearing about your juices and seeing some pictures of your juicing recipes - make sure you share them with me on my Facebook/Twitter & hashtag my name (#EllieGonsalves) on Instagram so I can see them all!

LOVE ELLIE x

  3. Hi Ellie- I've been folowing you on Instagram & have just found your blog. I'm learning to eat clean and eating more alkaline foods. Can I ask you 2 things- 1 I have a terible sweet tooth especially before my period- what is your advice on how to combat this? Secondly I've read through some of your posts- which are great and you say you haven't always looked like this... How did you look before? I think i'd find this very inspirational! Thanks for all the posts- its great to know you work hard for what you have and that you're not just born that way because god knows I'm not!!
